This lovely piece of machinery may just give trains a little bit of competition for Tyler’s focus in life.
Harvest is a big deal in my family. You never quite know what the season is going to look like, so when it’s actually a good year for the crops, its a bit of a small miracle. This year was a good one. No hail, rain and sunshine at the right times or year, no major break down in equipment….
These pictures show you how truly perfect our days in ND were. Blue skies a plenty—chopping down those amber waves of grain!
They were actually completely done combining by the time we got there, but my brother, being the thoughtful Uncle that he is, decided to leave about 10 acres left to combine when his favorite nephew came for a visit. He knew Tyler would love getting the chance ride—and drive—the combine.
He was right too! This is one happy little boy!
When the hopper was full, Ty got to push the button to move the auger out and dump it into the truck.
Pondering a life on the farm, maybe?
While waiting for Grandpa Jon to come back up to the field with the semi-truck (because they had filled the small truck and the hopper was full again), Jason and Tyler played around up in the wheat. And this won’t be the last time Tyler is practically buried in wheat! More to come on that later this week!
So, there you have it! What’s not to love about that?
Tyler has combines ON THE BRAIN right now too. Grandma said it was all he talked about all day yesterday! I picked him up at yesterday and she had printed out about 8 combine coloring pages (mostly Gleaners, Janette!) and he had colored most of them. When we got in the car, he asked if I could find some more coloring pages, but this time, ones with the auger out. Unfortunately, there are not many combine coloring pages out there on the net…if you can believe that…so I googled how to turn a photograph into a coloring page using Photoshop. It was pretty easy, so that will have to be our new thing!
Thanks to Uncle Jason for thinking of Tyler when he was wrapping up harvest for the year. You know your nephew so well! He loved this experience, and if there is something out there that can edge trains out of the top of the list of obsessions, bring it on!
