I’m sure there are a few of my ‘readers’ out there who have been waiting for me to get some more pictures posted from our trip to ND. Sorry! It’s taken me much longer than I’d hoped to get through my pictures. This new way is proving to be much more time consuming, although, I hope the quality of the pictures makes it worth it.
Anyway….
Here we are, me and my beautiful kids, just before walking across the alley to the church for the wedding of my cousin, Megan Lindsey to Casey Moran. We clean up pretty nice, huh? You think Ava is cute in this dress….if only it would have been colder outside, I had a adorable hounds tooth matching trench coat for her! Who would have thought it would have been 78 degrees that day?
First Lutheran Church is a popular place to get married in Williston. The bridal party was beautiful as they waited for Megan to walk down the aisle.
After the wedding, we all waited outside to greet Mr. & Mrs. Moran. Ava found a pretty flower….
…and brought it to Grandma Jean. So sweet!
And she also hung out with Grandpa Jon for awhile.
Here is handsome Tyler, all decked out for his job handing out mints (from his little black bucket) to the wedding guests at the reception. He took his job very seriously! He made sure he handed out every last mint in his bucket….and then he filled it with marshmallows from the Chocolate Fondue fountain. Clever kid!
This is my cousin, Miriah, older sister of the bride, and Maid of Honor. Doesn't she look fantastic?! Oh, and yes, she is wearing a dress!
I’m including this picture because it shows Ava’s signature dance move from the night. Maybe it’s a bit of yoga infusion? I’m not sure why, but she kept going back to this move all night long. It was so cute to see her trying to dance with the other kids. She seems to enjoy bopping around to the music. Tyler mostly wanted to run around and then slide face first on the dance floor. Classic Tyler.
50 bonus points for anyone who knows what this is….Anyone? Ok, anyone NOT from North Dakota know what this is?
I’m sure the suspense is killing you….it’s called Kransekake, or a traditional Norwegian dessert, usually served at special occasions such as a wedding. It is so good! Chewy, almond flavored and delish! My aunt Joan (my Dad’s twin sister) makes them for our special occasions. We had one at our ND wedding reception too. I would love to try making it one day….
Here is the happy couple with the another wedding cake tradition….and yes, they smashed it.
This picture of the boys dancing is pretty funny. These two boys with Tyler, Treven in the green and Zane in the blue, are the sons of two of my cousins. They were BUSTING a move all night…especially little Treven. That boy had some mad dance skills! I wish I had a video of him dancing. My dad does, so maybe I’ll get it from him. Our kids actually have quite a few second cousins who were at the wedding—all boys too! There is only one other girl cousin, and she wasn’t there. There were 7 boy cousins under the age of 7 at the wedding, so 9 of the 13 great grand kids were there. And of course, here is the beautiful bride enjoying her night.
Here is another cousin of mine who I have never introduced on my blog. This is my cousin, Jennifer, who lives in Texas with her husband and two sons. We don’t see her much, so it was great to have her there for the wedding. We hear quite often (or at least, we did when we were together more) that we look very much alike. What do you think?
Jason and Janae with Ava. They had so much fun with the kids while we were there. I’m so grateful that they both love our kids so much. They are so good with them too! I wish we were closer so we could spend more time together (like all of my family…), but we are looking forward to our trip to Maui with them and Joyce and Marv in March! 159 days from now….
I love this picture! Megan looks so happy…..
Megan and her dad, Gary, getting ready for their dance together.
Ava had a good time, but she got tuckered out after awhile. She sat with Grandpa Jon for awhile, and it wasn’t long before she was asleep on his lap.
After Ava woke up from her little cat nap, she was ready to party some more! I got this video of her dancing once the party really got started. Enjoy! I bet she’ll appreciate this in 13 years!
I hope you enjoyed my re-cap of Megan and Casey’s wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and a fantastic party! We were saying afterwards that there probably won’t be another party like that in our family again! All of my Berger cousins were there except 2 of them (one of whom lives in Alaska). I kicked myself the next day for not organizing a group picture of us all together. It’s been way too many years since we’ve all been together, and it might be many years until that many of us are together again. We always used to take a family picture in front of our grandparent’s fireplace, until everyone started growing up and moving away. It was pretty cool to have most of us together again.
I am so glad we went home for this wedding. Being so far from home, it is important to me to get back for things like this. Thanks for being patient with me while I got these pictures together, and while I continue to tell the story of our trip in pictures.
Thanks to Mom and Dad for getting us home for this special occasion! Good luck to you, Megan and Casey, as you embark on your new life as husband and wife!
